Welcome to Holy Trinity Tulse Hill’s Hand-Built Hall – one of London’s greenest community spaces. Built to exacting standards by over 600 volunteers, using straw bale construction, this gorgeous facility sits on a network of reclaimed car and tractor tyres. Special? It certainly is – ready for your special occasion.
About
Holy Trinity’s Hand Built Hall was completed on 31st March 2024 after seven years’ painstaking construction. It is bespoke in every detail, and constructed not only carbon-neutral but carbon-negative. Are these your values? Read on…
The walls are built with straw bales – immensely strong, beautifully breathable, gorgeously insulating, staggeringly fire-resistant. These are then plastered internally using clay, dug up from our own foundation work. Externally they have a thick covering of Lime render. The roof is covered with 95% recycled plastic slates and solar panels. The foundations are a carefully designed matrix of recycled tyres – each one packed hard by hand, with stone.
This unique, innovative and award-winning building will wow your guests and give them an ethical experience to remember and, we hope, pass on!
